This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate student to focus on the real-world needs of working waterfronts in the U.S. The internship will address the need to protect water-dependent land uses in Gloucester County, Virginia, which are increasingly becoming lost to non-water-dependent uses. The intern will work directly with county staff to research issues and ordinances regarding working waterfronts in rural and suburban localities in the U.S. and utilize what they find to provide recommendations to Gloucester County for a working waterfront zoning ordinance or overlap district. This research will also act as a guide for other coastal communities in facing similar challenges. Please see the full announcement for additional details and instructions on how to apply.
