Ann Robertson is Policy Director at AKWA-DC, a fisheries-focused consulting firm based in Juneau, Alaska. Before moving to Bellingham in 2020, Ann served in the office of Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski as a NOAA Sea Grant Fellow and subsequently as the Senator’s fisheries advisor, working to develop and advance fisheries legislation to support Alaska’s fishing and seafood industry. Prior to working on Capitol Hill, she spent four years as a research contractor with the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (NOAA) while also working as a deckhand in the Southeast Alaska salmon gillnet fishery. Ann and her husband now split their time between Alaska and Bellingham while running the FV Howkan, a 1929 salmon tender vessel. Ann holds a BA in Earth Science from Vassar College and a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment.
