Boatyards are Bustling - 2022 Upcoming Season Begins!

Program Manager • Apr 05, 2022

The upcoming 2022 season is just beginning, and the facilities and services here in Bellingham are ramping up for the first season post-Covid, with appointments and bookings filling up as the fleets and operators prepare for the season ahead.

We were able to ask a few questions of Mark, the Boatyard Manager for The Landings at Colony Wharf, about the upcoming season:

The Landings at Colony Wharf are always a busy place, how far out should an operator seek to schedule haul outs for the spring start-up season? Currently we are very busy and our next available appointment is two months out, always plan ahead. If you can, try to schedule your Spring haul out in the winter time to ensure you get time you want.

A lot of consideration and planning happens before a boat gets hauled out for work. What are three things a good operator should consider in planning to haul out their vessel for work at the Landings ? Be sure you have an appointment. The Landings is a self service boatyard, for you to do your own work or to hire contractors to assist you. It is important to be sure you have your contractors, who are insured and approved to work in the boatyard by The Landings, lined with your appointment before haul out and that you have discussed with the boatyard personnel your scope of work to ensure you can do what you need to and are informed of the boatyard rules. It is important that boaters have proper clean up equipment, such as a vacuum, broom and dust pan. Keeping the boatyard clean helps The Landings help the customers to always be able to work on their own boats. We always welcome customers to stop in our office, check out the facility and even talk to the personnel before their haul out date, especially if they have not been to our facility.

What a few things that the Landings at Colony Wharf are looking forward to for the coming season? We always look forward to being able to have our old customers here for the season and welcoming new ones. The boatyard seasons are always changing. We are continually striving to keep up with the changes and to build the infrastructure needed to accommodate their needs.

Thanks to Mark for taking a few moments to answer our questions, and for all of our waterfront colleagues and businesses, have a productive, safe and fun 2022 season!
